Mastering Turns and Substitutions in Fantasy Serie A

In Fantasy Serie A, mastering Turns (T) and manual substitutions is essential. Learn how to spread your players across Turns, keep bench options alive, and make the most of all 15 spots in your squad.

Turns and Substitutions

In Kickest, winning isn’t just about picking the best players—it’s about managing them at the right time. Every Round (R) is split into Turns (T1, T2, T3…), each grouping matches played on the same day. Between one Turn and the next, you can make changes to your lineup—but only if you act in time.

Here’s the catch: substitutions are not automatic. If one of your starting eleven doesn’t play or scores poorly, you must replace them manually with a bench player who hasn’t yet played. This makes Turn awareness one of the most important strategic elements in Fantasy Serie A.

Why Turns Matter

If you fill your starting XI entirely with players in T3, you’ll be stuck watching earlier Turns without any chance to react. Instead, spread your players across different Turns so you always have active bench options. This way, you can replace underperformers as the Matchday unfolds.

A golden rule: always start with your T1 players, even if you think they’re the weakest in your squad for that position. For example, if you have four strong forwards but only one of them plays in T1, put him on the field. Worst case, you can replace him with a T2 or T3 forward later if his score doesn’t satisfy you. The same logic applies to the Captain, who can be changed between Turns as long as the new one hasn’t played yet.

Example in Action

Imagine Matchday 1 starts on a Friday with only one game: Sassuolo vs Napoli (T1). You could select one to three players from these teams, make one of them your Captain, and see how they perform. If their scores aren’t what you hoped for, swap them for your T2 or T3 players before their matches kick off.

Remember: once a player has played, they can’t be brought in from the bench. Planning your Turns well can turn an average squad into a top performer.

The 15-Player Mindset

Kickest isn’t an 11-man game—it’s a 15-man strategy battle. Every player you pick should either start or have a real chance of playing. Leaving unused slots for players with no chance of minutes is wasting potential points. With up to 5 transfers per Round, including the coach, you can adjust your squad weekly to maximise Turn coverage and substitution flexibility.

A well-balanced squad across Turns is often what separates good managers from great ones in Fantasy Serie A.
