My Picks for Kickest Fantasy Serie A – Round 33
Let’s break down the five most interesting picks for the next Serie A and Kickest weekend.
Inter may have delivered the decisive blow in the title race: thanks to their win in Como and Napoli’s draw, they moved to +9 with six rounds remaining. If the Scudetto race now seems all but decided, the fight for Champions League spots is a very different story, with four teams within five points, while the relegation battle now looks like a two-team fight between Cremonese and Lecce.
I’m picking up the Fixture Ticker again, and let’s choose the five transfers to make for Matchday 33 of Serie A and Kickest!
Out Carnesecchi (Atalanta), in De Gea (Fiorentina)
Let’s start with the goalkeeper: with two keepers facing difficult matches and both in T2, we decide to drop Marco Carnesecchi, who will face Roma at the Olimpico. In his place comes David De Gea. The Spanish goalkeeper hasn’t had his best season—like Fiorentina as a whole—but in recent weeks he has returned to a high level, and it’s no coincidence that during this period La Viola have practically secured survival.
Out Garcia (Sassuolo), in Solet (Udinese)
We say goodbye to Ulisses Garcia, who two weeks ago even gave us a goal on the matchday when we chose to back him. In his place comes what will most likely be one of the best defenders in this Serie A, if not the best: Oumar Solet. Two monumental performances against Como and Milan, and an average of 21.26 FPT on Kickest over the last five matches. Moreover, our Fixture Ticker suggests he could be a locked-in pick from now until the end of the season.
Out Bartesaghi (Milan), in Rensch (Roma)
Davide Bartesaghi has really struggled recently, highlighted by the unfortunate own goal against Udinese. We therefore look for a low-cost swap to also gain some credits and choose Devyne Rensch. The Roma player stands out for his versatility, with Gasperini using him as a wing-back on both sides but also as the third center-back. He always delivers, sometimes even providing bonuses, such as the assist against Pisa.
Out Bernardeschi (Bologna), in Da Cunha (Como)
Federico Bernardeschi’s return to Juventus Stadium as an opponent is one of those great football stories, but it’s also a tough match for a Bologna side coming off their Europa League elimination and facing a Juve fully involved in the Champions League race. For this reason, we decide to drop the Rossoblù number 10 for this round and go with Lucas Da Cunha. Somewhat surprisingly left out against Inter, he came on in the second half and delivered an excellent performance capped by the penalty goal for 3–4. Here too, the schedule played an important role in the decision.
Out Alisson (Napoli), in Esposito (Inter)
We also wanted to freshen up our attack, but with Malen and Simeone “on fire”, we can only leave Alisson Santos out for Matchday 33. If memory serves, we choose for the first time one of the most talked-about names of this Serie A: Francesco Pio Esposito. The Inter striker is perhaps going through his toughest moment: after the missed penalty against Bosnia, he has struggled between Roma and Como with Inter. Against Cagliari, it could be the opportunity to get back on track and leave the difficult period behind.
