My Picks for Kickest Fantasy Serie A – Round 23

Let’s break down the five most interesting picks for the next Serie A and Kickest weekend.

We are heading into Matchday 23 of Serie A — and therefore of Kickest as well — with the January transfer window coming to an end. Last-minute signings, deals to be completed, negotiations falling through. In the meantime, though, football is being played non-stop: with as many as five Kickest rounds coming up, solid preparation is essential.

I dust off the Fixture Ticker and let’s take a look at the five transfers to make for this Serie A and Kickest matchday.

Carnesecchi (Atalanta) out, Svilar (Roma) in

We start with a big change between the posts. After many weeks, we say goodbye to Marco Carnesecchi, who has helped us out consistently. In his place, we need a top option — and who better than arguably the best goalkeeper in the league? We go with Mile Svilar. Thanks to the Fixture Ticker, we identified him also because he offers good rotation with Corvi: in the coming weeks, when one of them has a tougher fixture, the other faces a more favorable opponent.

Gila (Lazio) out, Kelly (Juventus) in

From the outside, Lazio look like a team — or perhaps more accurately, a club — going through a confusing period, with tensions between management, squad and environment. For this reason, we decide to move on from Mario Gila, also freeing up some extra credits that may come in handy. His replacement is Lloyd Kelly: the defender signed last January struggled initially at Juventus, but since Spalletti’s arrival he has become a key figure in the Bianconeri’s defense.

Ederson (Atalanta) out, McTominay (Napoli) in

This is probably the most significant transfer of the matchday. We part ways with a disappointing Ederson, who is slowly getting back to his usual levels. In his place comes Scott McTominay. Napoli are arguably going through their toughest spell of the season — the Scudetto drifting further away, Champions League elimination, and several injuries — and we believe the Scotsman is the one player capable of lifting the Partenopei.

Fagioli (Fiorentina) out, Zielinski (Inter) in

Inter face Cremonese with the aim of maintaining their lead at the top of the table. In recent weeks, partly due to Calhanoglu’s injury, Piotr Zielinski has become increasingly important. Thanks to his excellent physical condition, the Polish midfielder is turning into a key asset for the Nerazzurri, and he is also the interim penalty taker. Making way for him in our squad is Nicolò Fagioli.

Bernede (Verona) out, Tourè (Pisa) in

A swap between matchday punts. Our gamble on Bernede did not pay off, with Verona continuing to struggle badly. For this reason, we place our chips on a player who has already featured in our weekly selections: Idrissa Tourè of Pisa. His physical strength could prove decisive in helping Gilardino’s Nerazzurri pick up points at home as well.
